Rest in Peace, Aunt Gerry.

I'm sure I speak for all the Ganssles near and far in expressing our sadness at Aunt Gerry's passing. My dad surely loved his little sister and I have fond memories of days long past when she visited our house. I'm sure there is quite the reunion above as all those who have gone before her welcome her to her new home! We wish all the Ryan's strength and peace at this difficult time. We love and miss you all!

OK so I'm trying to get this thing started again. I can't seem to figure out how to post a new comment so will proceed with responding to the last one, even if dated.

I am so looking forward to connecting with all the Ganssles. My daughter-in-law, Tiffany, is a genealogy buff and has done some research on the Ganssles. She has a family tree set up. She is very excited about coming with me. We will be arriving on Thursday, July 7th. Should be a lot of fun!

  3. Here are some comments from my sister, Irene Campbell:

Hi Boo. I had a few thoughts about the reunion while I was driving down to NY. I was wondering if we should have a Memorial Board for those who have departed. People could bring their favorite pictures of the one who has passed, or little poems or tributes. We could call it "Ganssles With God", if that is not too presumptuous.

Also, I was wondering if someone would like to take charge of background music to add to the festive feel. Someone could load up an Ipod and bring the mounting/stereo station and play a continuous loop of pre-selected tunes. Maybe from the 40s and 50s too. Might be a fun project for someone who likes that kind of thing. I know it's short notice but that doesn't take too long. You could give a shout out about it and see if you get any takers.

Also, since there are so many writers among us, we could have a writer's table where people could put copies of their work for anyone interested in picking it up and taking it to read. Or we could ask those who like to reflect, write an essay on "What does being Ganssle mean to me?" Or "What is Ganssle-ness?". See if we come up with common traits, etc. I would write about all the things I learned from Daddy that I thought were Ganssle-y and which I appreciate almost every day. Those could be read aloud at a podium if people are so inclined.

I would put all of these suggestions on the blog site but I can't seem to post on there. It's such a shame because it would be a lot of fun. Anyway, tell me what you think and how I can facilitate.

  4. And here's an update from me about the Ganssle Reunion on July 9:

We're up to 50 people attending the dinner. I'll be making the dinner arrangements this week with the Tropicana. It looks like the buffet will be about $40 (includes gratuity) for adults. I'll ask about the price for children and also about a cash bar.

By the way, I was told that the block of rooms for the Ganssle Reunion will continue to be held at the discounted rate until the week before the reunion.

That's all I've got for now. Don't forget to bring pictures of yourselves as kids (and other pictures), so we can all have a good laugh.

    Booie
