I still don't see it so I am going to respond to this one.
I am so looking forward to seeing all the Ganssles. Can't wait to "compare and contrast". I was thinking yesterday about what it means to me to be a Ganssle, and of course, I thought of all the things I learned and inherited from my father. Mostly good stuff, but I think there may be a few traits on this side of the family that "outlaws" must struggle with. I thought it might be fun for those of us who may be so inclined, to reflect on what each of us thinks is "Ganssle-ness". Is there even such a thing? Or am I venturing way too far into Ganssle-narcisissim? (Bet you wish I didn't figure out how to blog on this site!!!)
Well, I've finally settled it with the Tropicana. Our room rate is $89 for Wednesday and Thursday (for those who wish to arrive early); Friday night is $129. They've also blocked off 10 rooms for Saturday night at $350 in case anyone wants to stay over until Sunday. I plan to arrive on Wed. and leave on Saturday.
FYI, I was told the Wed./Thurs. rate would be $139 without our blocked-rooms discount, so I think we're getting a good deal. And I just checked their website for Friday, July 9, and the rate given was $199.
When you call to make your room reservations, call toll-free 609-340-4000 and ask for "Reservations." When you get the reservations person, refer to the code HGANG to reserve rooms blocked for the Ganssle Reunion. You must book by June 17 to get the Ganssle Reunion rate. There is a 48-hour cancellation policy, so you may cancel any time up until July 6 if you're booked for, for example, July 8-9. Please be sure to cancel if your plans change, because it looks like I'll have to pay one night's rate for every "no-show."
I encourage you to book sooner rather than later so I can get an idea of how many people will be there and make the appropriate arrangements for a suitable size meeting/greeting/eating room.
If you're not bringing your children/grandchildren, please bring pictures of them so we can post them for everyone to see (I'll try to get wallboards for our meeting room). Alternatively, you can bring the pictures on a disk and play them continuously (slide show set-up) on your (or someone else's) laptop. The hotel will provide A/V equipment, but I don't know (yet) what they charge.
I'm thinking of having a baby picture contest (I will post the baby pictures in our meeting room and you try to figure out who each baby is), so start looking around for a suitable baby picture of yourself for that purpose (more on this and other plans in a future email).
Please pass this info on to anyone I have not copied above who might be interested. So far, almost all the first cousins are planning to attend, so I predict a big turnout and a great time.
